The Bommelerwaard, also called: the most beautiful island between the rivers, is characterized by a varied landscape of dikes and floodplains, castles and picturesque villages and is enclosed by the rivers Maas and Waal.

Zaltbommel and 's-Hertogenbosch

The cities of Zaltbommel and 's-Hertogenbosch have a lot to offer in the cultural field. Museums, city walks, theater, theater, you name it.

Zaltbommel is a cozy fortified town on the Waal with many sights and activities. Many people know the town of the stubby tower without a spire. From the beautiful Waal Bridge you can also see the small inhabited water tower and the city walls. Behind it lies the old and walled part of the town. History is palpable everywhere.

's-Hertogenbosch is the capital of the province of North Brabant. The historic city center is one of the oldest and most complete in the Netherlands. Some highlights in the city are: 'De Moriaan' is the oldest existing brick house in the Netherlands, where the tourist office is located; 'The Market' is the central point of the city, 'The Puthuis and the Hieronymus Bosch Statue' are the eye-catchers there; walk through the many winding, staggered streets with warehouses and merchant homes and through the hidden courtyards that create a romantic atmosphere.

Come cycling or walking in the Bommelerwaard and discover the versatility of the area. Cross the beautiful dikes of the Waal and the Maas with unique views, beautiful floodplains and villages such as Ammerzoden and Rossum. Delve into history while you cycle or walk past Ammersoyen Castle, Loevestein Castle or Zaltbommel City Castle. Don't forget to take a look inside, or get off and walk around the castles.
